William Kentridge

Kentridge, winner of the Carnegie Prize in the 2000 Carnegie International, Has created an original animation style that is based on his drawings in charcoal. the clips below illustrate the dramatic style of his work, which deals with serious and difficult matters in a somber tone. In his words "art in the state if siege."

His films are created by making and photographing incremental changes to the same drawing. Many if his films are part of dramatic performances that include live actors, pupets and and music.
